There are countless sites where you can register a .co.uk domain name, and I’ve personally tried lots of them.

Most of the time, I just register the domain, set up nameservers (DNS), enabled auto-renewal, and forget about it. I’ve never had to deal with any domain-related issues at almost all of the registrars I’ve used as far as I can remember.

Price is one of the factors I look at, but support and trust are more important.

Some registrars offer free or extremely cheap .co.uk domain registration to lure in new customers, but there is usually a catch to be wary of, such as a high renewal fee or hidden fees. For example, they may ask you to pay a fee if you want to transfer the domain to another registrar that has a lower renewal price.

My favorite registrar for .co.uk and .uk domains is NameCheap. The price is £5.23 for registration and £7.48 for renewal. That’s where I bought this site’s domain from.

I’ve been using NameCheap for many years and I haven’t run into any problems with them. They have decent hosting services as well, although they’ve had a few downtime incidents lately (it seems to be fine now).

Other good registrars that offer cheap .co.uk domains include Cloudflare, NameSilo, Regery and Dynadot. But I like NameCheap more.

Cloudflare has the lowest renewal price, but it’s not a huge difference and I don’t recommend it for two reasons: you can’t change nameservers, and support isn’t available unless you have a paid plan.

If you want something closer to Cloudflare’s at-cost pricing, try Spaceship instead. It’s owned by NameCheap but their renewal prices are lower. Spaceship’s price for .co.uk registration and renewal is about £4 per year.

I’ve been happy with Spaceship too. Their dashboard is cleaner and nicer than NameCheap’s.

Here’s a comparison of the registration and renewal prices of .co.uk domains at different registrars (note: some of these prices are converted from USD):
